Sydney Little Shanghai to Launch ‘Asian Food @Ashfield’

Sydney– 5 August 2024 – Welcome to ‘Asian Food @Ashfield’, a vibrant new destination set to become a landmark for Asian cuisine in Sydney. The Ashfield business community has vowed to brand the Asian Food @Ashfield precinct, marking a significant milestone in the cultural and economic landscape of the region.

This niche precinct offers a thriving, inclusive and culturally rich environment worthy of a viral foodie favourite. From the sizzling woks of street vendors to the refined ambiance of gourmet restaurants, experience a multicultural melting point where cultures harmonise and the community gathers to share both meals and company. With sustainability and community-engagement at the heart of its evolution, a kaleidoscope of festivals, cultural performances and art installations will showcase its future of economic vibrancy.

Ashfield, an Inner West suburb of Sydney, boasts a rich tapestry of cultural diversity. Originally home to the Wangal people of the Eora nation, the land carries a deep Aboriginal legacy. In recent times, Ashfield’s town center has emerged as a mosaic of multiculturalism, particularly evident in the array of Asian cuisines and shops. These establishments, predominantly run by entrepreneurs from Shanghai and various Asian locales, contribute to the suburb’s vibrant character.

The vision behind “Asian Food @Ashfield” is to create a unique business precinct that not only showcases the suburb’s existing Asian culinary and cultural offerings but also amplifies them. The goal is to cultivate an environment that mirrors the dynamism and charm of multicultural Ashfield, thereby enhancing its appeal within the Inner West economic circle.

On Sunday, 18 August 2024, Ashfield will officially launch ‘Asian Food @Ashfield’ at the Ashfield Civic Centre. The celebration will feature multicultural performances and is expected to draw an audience from the local community, as well as Chinese, Indian, Nepalese, and Vietnamese communities nearby. This multicultural community event is proudly sponsored by the Inner West Council. Join us for a day of cultural celebration and community spirit as we mark the beginning of a new chapter for Ashfield.
